Banshee more natively themed by conorsulli Banshee more natively themed by conorsulli
I created this in the hope that more people would notice this little inconsistency with Banshee. It doesnt paint themes properly to the rest of my gnome desktop nor does it use the typical toolbars like most gnome apps such as Eog Rhythmbox and Abiword. It really is the open office of media players in my opinion! versatile but poorly integrated!

So I set off creating a mockup using the osliner Radiance theme as a base
1) redesigning the toolbar in a style more typical to gnome and
2)painting it in the gtk theme in how it "should look" if it painted it properly and not its current implementation which seems to be using custom widgets and toolbar layouts and simply grabbing the colors of the theme and some other elements to create an alien look.

Hopefully it will spark interest or curiosity on how Banshee handles themes and why its designed in its current form.

Banshee would be truly awesome if it did just a little bit more when it comes to fitting into your Desktop!

I also have a concept for unused space in the now playing area coming shortly :-)

I'm not sure, that you can actually do all the things in your mockup with plain gtk.
Stuff like shading the scaler purple, or joining three buttons in "one", is exactly the reason Banshee chose to go custom in the first place.

Nautilus elementary seems to manage the unified buttons fine, as for the shading stuff, I literally cut and pasted most of the widgets from different gnome apps with the same theme. If eog nautilus and rhythmbox could manage it... banshee could.

Can you share your theme? The customizations to osliner radience are very nice.

Hi guys I noticed this got blogged about and just incase anybody thinks I'm saying something incorrect about the widgets I'm sorry . I do love banshee! I just wished it looked right with some of the themes I applied... I'll post a few screenshots in different uses and themes in comparison to other apps... I'd hate have people think I was criticising the app wrongly! It is awesome for the most part don't get me wrong :) and links to the theme I used to compare it... Can't do it now I'm posting from my phone :)
